Donner Lake Watersports and Donner Lake Marina will both open up for the summer that weekend and provide you with plenty of opportunities to have fun at the lake. They offer a variety of watercraft to rent by the hour, half day, or full day letting you pick your own adventure. The paddle equipment includes all you expect including single and double kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddle boards. You will find plenty of motor boats to choose from in that selection too. Rent out a pontoon boat or Centurion for family fun on the water. Check out a few waverunners to zip around the water in speed and style. You will also find fishing boats available at Donner State Park where you can enjoy a day of fishing out on the water. Explore Donner Memorial State Park
Part of the fun of staying right off the shores of Donner Lake is being so close to Donner Memorial State Park. This spacious park offers plenty of areas that include stunning scenery and hiking trails. Stop by the Visitor Center during your visit to pick up maps of the local trails and to learn all about the founding of the park and its unique history. Popular trails used in the park include Lakeside Interpretive Trail and Old Emigrant Trail that connect to Donner Lake. The Pacific Crest Trail takes you through Tahoe National Forest. Donner Memorial State Park is open year round from sunrise to sunset right here in the area.
Made in Tahoe Spring Festival
Come take a look at the life here in Truckee and Tahoe with the annual Made in Tahoe Spring Festival. This two-day festival is absolutely free to attend and features quite a bit of fun for the whole family. You will find the Made in Tahoe Spring Festival take place at The Village at Palisades Tahoe with an event that is inspired by the local community. Many local vendors from the area will be on hand for demonstrations, sales, and tastings. Local chefs, entertainers, and artisans will show you the local scene of Tahoe and give you the option to purchase unique gifts to take home with you. A variety of musicians and DJs will be performing at the Community, Events Plaza, and First Street Stages providing plenty of live tunes throughout the day. This year’s Made in Tahoe Spring Festival will take place on May 24th and 25th just in time for Memorial Day.
