Northstar’s Winter Music Series
When you visit a location such as Donner Lake you will notice that the winter sure seems to last quite a bit longer here. It is true that Donner Lake is a great ski spot here in the state of California with our higher elevation and colder winters. You can enjoy winter sports for longer than other parts of the country. Over the winter, local resort Northstar offers their Winter Music Series that starts in January and continues until mid-April. Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday you will find a selection of DJs and bands that will take over the Village Stage located over at the Roller Rink. Attendees are encouraged to come dance the evening away for an enjoyable experience. Don’t forget to check out the local shops and enjoy ice skating right by the stage. The Northstar Winter Music Series continues into April making for a thrilling spring visit.
39th Annual Snow Golf Tournament
The ski community surrounding Truckee and Donner Lake knows how to throw a party. Each year you will find Palisades Tahoe offering their Annual Snow Golf tournament during the month of April. This will be the 39th year for this wild event that has you ditching your ski jacket for khakis and a collared shirt. This event provides participants with a top-to-bottom snow golf course on the mountain that is exactly what you expect it to be. It will be a 10-hole course that begins with a ride to the top on the ski lift. Instead of a typical golf ball, you will be given tennis balls to use to help make your balls stand out in the snow. Participants are encouraged to show up dressed in costume, especially with this year’s Caddyshack theme. Raffle prizes will also be on hand for some incredible gear. Once the participants finish up, you can join everyone at the Caddyshack themed afterparty taking place at The Chalet. This year’s 39th Annual Snow Golf Tournament is taking place on Saturday April 12th. The event is free to attend and participate in with the purchase of a valid ski lift ticket for the day. Tahoe Truckee Earth Day
We are lucky to be able to call Earth our home, especially here around beautiful Donner Lake. Each year, Earth Day is celebrated so we can remember how important it is to take care of our home. The Tahoe Truckee Earth Day is one of the biggest Earth Day celebrations in the region and is taking place in April. The event is held at The Village at Palisades Tahoe from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Local organizations and businesses will be on hand showcasing the important of alternative energy, sustainability, and recycling through hands on activities for the kids. The event will include educational booths, raffles with Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships, and a viewing of “Wild Child” presenting by the Wild & Scenic Film Festival. Don’t miss out on the Tahoe Truckee Earth Day taking place on Saturday April 26th.
End of Ski Season
The ski season here in Tahoe Donner is slowly coming to an end and will do so during the month of April. This year’s season is expected to end around April 5th, just in time for a quick April visit to Donner Lake. The end of ski season may not be known for the best ski conditions but it will be one final chance to hit the slopes before they reopen in November. Expect to find all kinds of fun including activities and discounted prices at the local ski resorts.
